Intro to Hypnosis

May 2, 2012 at 4:34 pm | No comments

Hypnosis is often used to help people with trauma, anxiety, pain, phobias, negative habits or self-esteem issues. It is excellent for improving health and lifestyle. Here is a quick look at what it is:
1 – A focused awareness or a sustained mental focus
2 – It will not/cannot make you do anything against your principles and moral values
3 – It is easier to hypnotize someone who is creative, intelligent and has a good imagination
4 – Hypnosis can enrich your life
5 – The Hypnotherapist is primarily a guide to help you get where you need to go
The gift of human attention is a scarce resource today – the hypnotherapist focuses on you providing that gift of attention and compassion.

Lyrics from Walela

April 27, 2012 at 3:15 pm | No comments

From the cd by Walela with Rita Coolidge: Circle of Light
… We are children of the Angels
Keepers of the fire
We are children of the Angels
Reaching for the light
We are not strangers
We are all brothers
I know we came here to love each other
Here in the circle of life
… Like a love
Peaceful dove
Right there inside your soul
From another place and time
Moving into the circle of life

Dedicated today to Sage and my wonderful, loving friend Melody.

The Power of Belief

The Power of Belief

What if you went to your doctor for a routine physical and he/she said: “You’re in great health! I imagine you are eating wonderful foods and enjoying your workouts?” You would indeed feel great and I imagine your workouts would either improve or increase and you’d find yourself eating a wonderful diet. The power of belief is such that when someone you trust, someone you know is experienced and educated and has your best interests at heart you hold that belief in both your subconscious and consciousness and begin to create it in your life. What we say to others has such power it puts a responsibility on us to be aware of our intent and our choice of words. So, I say to you: You are wonderful and loving and kind and I wish you a beautiful and laughter-filled week. Suzanne

Oh, The Benefits of Clutter Clearing

March 31, 2012 at 3:22 am | No comments

I love my friends. I truly do. When I stopped by to see my friend Mona and her beautiful artwork from Spain I was pretty happy. Mona’s apartment (exactly the same size as mine) looks like a decorator’s dream – always perfectly together and uncluttered. My apartment looks like a cross between a used bookstore and an eclectic art gallery exploded in it. So, I was horrified to hear myself invite her over for a glass of wine when she had a free moment. The next morning saw me in a panic trying to figure out how to clear the clutter! I had always heard that clearing out clutter is good for your heart and soul and that it is simplest to start with a drawer, just to get in practice I suppose. However, one must be able to actually find the drawer and in any case my drawers gave me nightmares. I started with the bookshelves – basically dusting – then moved on to my closet. I actually ended up donating an entire bag of clothes and shoes (none of which actually fit any way) and clearing out books I’ll never read again. Goodwill loves me. I finished up with a bit more organizing and realized how much lighter and happier I felt. And, in Feng Shui terms the chi is flowing nicely. Maybe next time I’ll try one of the drawers.

Color Therapy

Color therapy has been around for many years and you can find a professional therapist by googling the term, but you can also do your own color therapy work just by walking outside. For example, think about a color that makes you feel good or really alive and find that color in nature. Perhaps the bright orange poppies blooming along the road call to you or perhaps it is all the shades of green to be found in the grass. Simply spend time looking for the color you enjoy and then just imagine breathing it in to your body. Feel your body relaxing and the happiness bubbling up and filling your soul. There – you’ve just performed your own color therapy experience. Fun, fun, fun! Oh, and good job too.

Looking for Inspiration

March 22, 2012 at 5:02 pm | No comments

Did you know you can find inspiration just about any where? Here are some quotes from author Mercedes Lackey’s Valdemar Series.
“A wise healer knows when to heal and when to let time do the healing” and “There is no future. There is no past. There is only now.”
Wise words to think on. Bernice Ende from Montana is a Long Rider. She travels thousands of miles on her horse with only her dog and another horse to accompany her. Bernice, wise woman that she is, says: “We are all on the long ride.” I wish all of you very well as you traverse your personal ‘long ride’ and may you have much success.

Our Journey Paths

January 20, 2012 at 7:00 pm | No comments

I’ve received 2 or 3 emails with photos of paths – one is the walk to the Great Wall of China, one is of Lombardi Street in San Francisco, others are windy or twisty, some over deep water, some through walls of ice and one straight through a field in what could be middle America. It made me think of the paths we walk on our human journey – how sometimes it twists and turns and sometimes flies straight as an arrow. When you have time, think about your path. The way it looked or felt to get you where you are and the way it might look or feel to get you where you want to go. My wish for you is to find safe harbor and lights of welcome wherever you walk on your journey – and know the path you are on is the right path for you now in this time and place.

Create Your Own Spa Retreat

Create Your Own Spa Retreat

A spa retreat provides a sacred and safe space for grounding, prayer, solitude, and meditation. It is all about nurturing and nourishing the mind, the body and your spirit.
So – set aside a few hours just for you. A good start for your retreat is sound immersion – immerse yourself in soothing sound. Using music that might include gongs, bells, chimes, percussion and other musical instruments and is designed for either healing (such as Reiki or Massage) or meditation creates a mood perfect for relaxing. You might prepare a warm, lovely tea and drink it from a special cup or mug – use something you find beautiful. Continue your retreat with a meditation on gratitude – you might think of all the people in your life who have been helpful or kind to you and imagine yourself simply saying “I offer you peace and joy” to each one. Take time to do something creative – paint, dance, knit or crochet, create a collage- anything that gets your mind, body and spirit involved. Take time during your retreat for some deep breathing and stretching. Then end your retreat with a few minutes of quiet, allowing you to float back into your everyday world relaxed and refreshed.

Dancing Moon

November 10, 2011 at 4:07 pm | No comments

Long and long ago or perhaps only last year, the moon looked down and saw the saguaro cactus standing in the desert sands with their arms frozen in place. The moon thought it would be a fine thing if the saguaros could dance, so she wrapped herself in the colors of the desert and let her moon dust fall on the saguaros. Together they danced. The saguaros lifted their arms toward the stars and laughed with the moon until the sun rose. In that moment the saguaros froze in place, for it was considered unwise to let the people know they could dance. It is said if you see the saguaro in the light of the sun it will be frozen in place, but if you wait in the quiet of the desert night you may be fortunate enough to see the saguaros and the moon dancing. It is also said the dancing moon may sometimes grant your wishes and make your desires manifest.
May you be showered with joy and your dreams come true.
